  • October Minutes Approved
  • President’s Report
    • Recommendation for Redistricting affects students along Rt. 1 only. Mrs. Swartz distributed hand-out with important meeting dates and contacts.
    • Cherrydale raised about $5,200
    • Skate night raised $400. Special Thanks to Ms. Lee, Ms. Foreman, and Ms. Monroe-Glenn for skating.
    • Could use just a couple more adoptive families (we have at least 2 teachers who aren’t matched).
    • Please don’t print flyers in color
    • Please don’t reserve rooms without using ‘Recurrence’ feature and please don’t select to have heat or air conditioning (we have to pay for that).
    • Please let me know if you’ll be using the display case this year.
    • PTA Newsletter going home this week and ½ page paper reminder.
    • Ms. Herrerra could use help with Fun Fridays (recess program)
    • Mrs. Menk sends her thanks for our $1,000 for books.
  • Upcoming Events
    • Kidstuff Book fundraiser ends this week.

    • Holiday Shop Nov. 18th
    • Scholastic Book Fair week of Nov. 14th. Mrs. Tordella could use help.
  • Treasurer’s Repot
    • Cherrydale was about $2,000 short of goal and Kidstuff is $1,000 short
  • Principal’s Report
    • Mrs. Gucwa, 4th grade, is resigning because her husband accepted a job in Va.
    • School Improvement Team (SIT) Mtg. is Nov. 9th at 3:30. Parents interested in joining the SIT team are invited to contact Mrs. Swartz.
    • Conversations with the Administrative team at FRES will take place Nov. 14th from 4-4:30 and Nov. 18th from 9:30 – 10:00. These sessions are called ‘Chat and Chew’ and will include light refreshments.
    • Education Week is the week of Nov. 14th. Monday is traditionally Elementary day.
    • Thanks to all the parents who helped with the Fall Festival and thanks to the PTA for all the goodies provided by Staff Appreciation Committee.
  • Committee Reports
    • Reflections (Matt) – distributed a handout with all important information. This handout should be posted on our web site.
    • Fundraising (Amanda/Marilyn) – Cherrydale raised $5,200 and Kidstuff raised about $500.
    • Membership (Charmian) – 362 members. Cards should go out before Thanksgiving.
    • Newsletter/Web Page (Kim/Katie and Ajay)
      1. Electronic copy of newsletter to go out this week. Kim sent draft. If anyone has corrections/additions, please send them to Katie ASAP. Minutes on Web.
    • Summer Activity Books  (Marilyn) – awarded 100 students medals.
    • After School Programs – Mad Science (Lisa L.) and Kidzart (Lisa S.) – programs are going great. Kids having fun. Lisa S. has approval for Jan. K-2 Kidzart. Need to get the word out in Dec.
    • School Supplies (Kay) – Traci Dula and Lisa Loveless will take over from Kay for next year. Next step is to submit school supply lists in Mrach/April.
    • Green Committee (Barrie) – school is collecting candy wrappers so send them in. Barrie is hoping to do a Trash Free Tuesday…needs help to implement. Kids want to use money to help others.
    • Family Activities – need to plan chuck e. cheese. Idea was suggested to have 2 chuck e. cheese fundraisers…one in the winter and one during Turn off the TV Week. Skate Night on Jan. 19th conflicts with Winter Concert. We need to change the date to whatever we can get. Some ideas were a Sat., Sun. or MLK Holiday or Jan. 23rd.
    • Dad’s Club (Brian) – looking to hold first event, household charades, in Dec.
    • Directory (Katie) Will be emailed as a pdf this year. No hard copies.
    • Staff Appreciation (Jen & Michelle) – Conference dinner is Nov. 21st from 4-5. Setup begins at 3:00. Charmian will help Jen.
    • Spirit Wear (Lisa & Jen) – Nov. 7th is the FINAL deadline for orders. No Late orders.
    • Adopt A Teacher (Joyelle) – Meet and Greet Nov. 15th from 6:00 – 7:00. Need 2 more families.
    • Boxtops (Marilyn & Jen) – hope to use the money for a jumbo-tron ($500) movie event. Kim needs to look into getting Movie License. Katie will look into renting a theater as this may be cheaper.
    • Walk N Talk (Marta & Catherine) – Need Volunteers to get started!
  • Next Meeting: Dec.6th , in the Media Center
